Description
Antioquia is a department of Colombia located in the northwest of the country. Its capital, Medellin (also known as the “city of eternal spring” for its average temperature of 25°C), is the second most populous city after Bogotá. It is sadly known for its dark years of narcotrafficking, but today remains one of the country’s most popular cities.
Its inhabitants, the païsas, are festive and warm-hearted. Antioquia is renowned for its biodiversity, thanks to its climate and the many rivers that cross the department. Touristically, it is renowned for its typical villages and for el peñol de Guatape. What’s more, it’s a central region that provides rapid access to the coffee-growing zone and the Caribbean coast.

Accommodation
After demonstrating their ability to reforest, live as a community and create beautiful families in neighboring Choco, Sergio, Betty and their children decided to return to their antioqueña source and start the process all over again: buying deforested land dedicated to livestock to sow, sow and sow again. A dozen other families soon followed suit. Together, they have been creating a paradise on earth along the Arenal River for over 10 years.
Today, there are 15 families associated in a 30-hectare nature reserve. Others have joined forces to learn how to live as a community and preserve the environment. They organize themselves, each with their own know-how, to form a community of regenerators of all kinds. They are in turn teachers to their children, musicians, architects, bioconstructors, market gardeners, birdwatching guides and distillers of good fruit for celebratory moments.
It’s a paradise nestled in the mountains that no car can reach. You’ll need to walk 30 minutes into this forest, which, from the very first moment, will overwhelm you, destabilize you and welcome you to the sound of birds and the river.
