Fayoum is best known today for the so-called Fayoum Portraits, a collection of beautifully rendered mummy masks.
The region is a beautiful horse riding location, as it’s surrounded by desert, where you can race your horses and climb sand dunes. You’ll love the way these sure-footed horses explore, and enjoy the open landscapes.
Relaxing trails and speedy gallops, this place has it all.

Breakfast at your hotel, then transfer by air-conditioned van to Fayoum (2 H.), arrive, some rest before the horse riding adventure.
Meet with your horse riding guide and start your ride, for almost half an hour.
Back to the meeting point, then transfer by 4×4 vehicles to visit Wadi El Rayan Protectorate, one of Egypt’s most famous nature reserves. These areas are full of amazing landscapes such as oases, mountains, rock formations and waterfalls. Egyptian wildlife can also be seen in the area including white gazelles, Egyptian gazelles, sand foxes and fennec foxes, as well as rare species of resident birds, migrant birds and various kinds of eagles and falcons.
Proceed to visit Wadi El Rayan Waterfalls, a natural phenomenon, and are considered to be the largest waterfalls in Egypt. Wadi El-Rayan is distinguished by its springs in the middle of the desert and small cascades. The well-watered area is home to rare bird species that nest on the shores of the local lakes.
Time for a local lunch in the desert, then proceed to the Magic Lake. It was named the Magic Lake as it changes its colors several times a day depending on the time of year and the amount of sunlight it receives. It is an amazingly beautiful place surrounded by desert.
Some free time to practice your hobby, maybe capturing some photos, walking around, sand boarding, or meditation.
At the end of the day, transfer back to Cairo.
