Discover the art of pottery wheel – €100 for 2 persons
Discover the magic of the wheel with Gaël!
This ceramics enthusiast will be delighted to welcome you to his beautiful workshop. He’ll start by explaining his background, and how this session on the wheel will unfold.
Gaël will then give you a live demonstration, to help you understand the key phases and essential gestures of this technical and sensory practice. Then it’s up to you!
The first step is to knead the clay. After weighing it, you’ll remove any air bubbles – it’s important!
Once the clay is supple and your hands are warmed up, you’ll set up on the lathe. You’ll set up a keel to eliminate any remaining air bubbles, and center the clay on the lathe using the strength of your hands! Accompanied by Gaël, you will gradually watch the clay take shape under your fingers, until it becomes a bowl (or other small piece), which you can remove from the wheel.
After a bit of tidying up, you’ll finally entrust your creation to the craftsman, who will take care of drying, firing and glazing. You’ll also agree with him directly on the terms of collection.
You’ll then leave with your beautiful turned object, which you’ll be eager to show off to your friends and family! A glossary of essential technical terms will also be sent to you in PDF format after the workshop.
